Introduction
Introduction

io.network is a product for financial institutions that want to modernise asset management through tokenisation.
io.network runs on an EVM-compatible permissioned network. It supports rapid, compliant transfer processing and real-world asset (RWA) tokenisation using smart contracts. io.finnet's infrastructure, including compliance controls and MPC technology, handles the underlying cryptographic operations.
This guide covers the integration process for banks, investment firms, and other financial institutions looking to use io.network's self-hosted, scalable infrastructure for digital asset management.
What is asset tokenisation?
Asset tokenisation creates digital representations of real-world assets on a digital network. These tokens can represent traditional securities, real estate, alternative investments, or private equity shares. Tokenisation makes previously illiquid assets more easily tradeable while maintaining regulatory compliance and security.
Why io.network?
io.network provides financial institutions with:
- A permissioned EVM network with compliance controls built in
- Tokenisation frameworks that satisfy regulatory requirements
- Integration with existing settlement and custody systems
- Real-time settlement finality
- MPC-based custody through io.vault (no single point of failure for private keys)
- Full audit trails and reporting for every transaction
The platform
The io.finnet platform combines several products to provide an integrated experience for institutions on io.network. The diagram below shows how io.network, io.vault, io.flow, and the Compliance Tool work together to support currency tokenisation.
